UK PM Leadership Race: Whose Psychometrics Reveal The Best Leadership Potential?

UK PM Leadership Race: Whose Psychometrics Reveal The Best Leadership Potential? 1038 690 Georgie Morgan

We used our CitizenMe psychometric AI to see which candidate has the most leadership potential

The UK PM leadership race is now down to two candidates, Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak. Our last blog revealed that Truss and Sunak were the favourites to go to the last two, at least among UK Citizens (only MP’s and then party members can actually vote). This time around, we’re comparing the two, looking at their leadership potential.

Follow the leader

To find their leadership potential, we ran recent letters from each candidate via our psychometric AI (co-developed with the University of Cambridge Psychometric Centre). We looked at Sunak’s resignation letter first of all. It revealed that the language was similar to someone of 32 years old and the leadership potential came back at 63%. This is considerably higher than the average of 54% from the 50+ resignation letters that precipitated the leadership election.

We then looked at one of Liz Truss’ letters where she talks about school funding with one of her constituents (Liz Truss didn’t resign and so we used this as an alternative). Her writing style is slightly older, most closing matching the average UK 41 year old, and her leadership potential score is estimated at 58% – again higher than the average, but not quite as strong as Sunak’s.

Who’s got the bigger personality?

Both letters were assessed to see the difference in OCEAN Big 5 personality traits. OCEAN Big 5 is an academic psychometric rating scale that reveals where on a scale a person fits for:

  • Openness
  • Conscientiousness
  • Extroversion
  • Agreeableness
  • Neuroticism

The Big 5 personality for Sunak showed that he has high organisation and is hard working as well as being engaged with the outside world.

Truss showed that from her writing she was also organised and hard working but is more contemplative, recharging with more ‘alone time’.
